The value of an individuals' home provides an accurate indication of affluence and consequently, it provides a guide as to their likely disposable income.
Specific to household level, Jigsaw7 can overlay the property council tax band onto consumer data to provide an effective and accurate targeting tool.
The council tax band valuation for a dwelling (which is not used for any business purpose) is the amount which it would sell for on the open market by a willing vendor. For estate agents in particular, it provides a unique way to target their market based on property value.
The council tax band takes account of the size, age and character of the property, as well as the area it is in and uses sales price data from around the valuation date to arrive at the correct band for the property.
Effective from 1st April 2005, the VOA were responsible for conducting a new survey on all properties in Wales. The Council Tax Banded Data from Jigsaw7 incorporates the new 2005 Wales council tax bands:
- Band A ... up to £44,000
- Band B ... £44,001 up to £65,000
- Band C ... £65,001 up to £91,000
- Band D ... £91,001 up to £123,000
- Band E ... £123,001 up to £162,000
- Band F ... £162,001 up to £223,000
- Band G ... £223,001 up to £324,000
- Band H ... £324,001 up to £424,000
- Band I ... £424,001 and above
The council tax bands for England were also due to be revisited, but this has been postponed.
The Jigsaw7 council tax band data is continually updated to reflect changes made as a result of appeals, etc and so its accuracy is maintained on a rolling basis.
